Bro. Jerry Houston serves as the senior minister of the Newark Church of Christ in New Jersey. The Shreveport, Louisiana, native began his Christian journey in the summer of 1980 while serving his second term in the United States Army in the Washington, D.C. area.
Prior to laboring at Newark, Bro. Houston served as minister at three congregations. Bro. Houston started at the East Haven Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, before moving his ministry to the historic Reynolds Street Church of Christ, previously known as the East Henrietta Road Church of Christ, in Rochester, New York. Under his leadership, the Reynolds Street congregation experienced unprecedented growth, baptizing more than 1,200 souls in 16 years. Then Bro. Houston served as the senior minister of the Dellcrest Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas, before eventually beginning his ministry at Newark.
Throughout the brotherhood, Bro. Houston is nationally known for conducting gospel meetings, revivals, leadership workshops, marriage workshops, and singles’ seminars. He also regularly speaks at regional lectureships and has served as a featured speaker at the National Lectureship of the Churches of Christ.
Additionally, Bro. Houston holds numerous degrees and post-graduate accomplishments, including a Doctorate of Theology, Masters’ of Divinity from Harding University Graduate School of Religion and Buxton University, Bachelor of Arts from Harding University; and a host of other accomplishments.
Bro. Houston and his wife Deborah have two daughters, Amber Symone and Janae Lyndsey. They believe their ministry starts at home to ensure a legacy of faithfulness to God and His people.

Sis. Deborah Houston is a devoted Christian wife and mother who is all about “faith-family-fellowship.”
The Philadelphia native travels across the world encouraging women to embrace the totality of who they were created and destined to become with the understanding that they were created by God, for GOD! Sis. Houston believes her purpose is to help women with “Revolutionizing the Inner Woman to Move Beyond the Pain of Her Past in Order to Embrace her Power & Purpose!”
As part of this ministry, Sis. Houston, who has authored numerous books, speaks at various national and international ladies’ programs, lectureships, and retreats. Additionally, she and her husband, Bro. Jerry Houston, conduct marriage workshops, along with youth seminars. The certified life coach, who specializing in helping ministers’ wives, also hosts the podcast, “A Dose of Debb.” She believes that when we strive to empower one another, we become a collective force that will have a positive impact on our world, affecting generations to follow.
Bro. and Sis. Houston are the parents of two daughters, Amber Symone and Janae Lyndsey.
